I have used this recipe before and I put all the ingredients together and then allow melt in my crock pot for four hours. Then I serve it in my mini crock pot in order to keep information technology warm.
03/04/2003
What a hit! I made this for the adults at my son's birthday party, and figured a few people would enjoy it. What an understatement. When it came out of the oven, I couldn't go anyone away from this dish! They all hovered over it until every concluding seize with teeth had been consumed. I toasted rye bread and cut them into quarters for dipping. I also used a combination of swiss and mozzarella cheese for the topping, equally I knew not everyone was crazy about swiss cheese. Information technology was fantastic and I know it will be a requested dish in the hereafter.
05/14/2000
This dip tastes merely like a Reuben sandwich, but unless you go on it hot, the cheese congeals into a viscous, impossible-to-scoop-upwardly mess. Brand certain to serve this in a hot chafing dish or keep the baking dish on an electric hot tray.
11/03/2005
My mom has been making this for years, so I took pieces of her version and added it to this ane. I skipped the Thousand Island dressing and used 2 cups of mayo with i can of drained and rinsed sauerkraut, a pound of shredded corned beef, one pound of shredded Swiss, eight oz. shredded cheddar and eight oz. of mozzarella. I mixed it altogether and baked it in a greased 9x13 for one/2 60 minutes and it was out of this world. I served it with Triscuits and cocktail rye, which my guests really enjoyed.
01/09/2003
Wow, I've never had so many people beg me for more! It'due south definitely worth it to cook up a brisket - quality corned beef makes for quality dip. I spread a small amount of Jack Daniels dijon mustard over the corned beef before putting on the top layer to add a picayune zest. For a political party, I make information technology in several small casserole dishes and then while people are enjoying the first batch, another 1 can be warming upwardly in the oven. Thank yous Karen!
01/xix/2003
Loved this!! The but change I made was using 3/4 c. mayo and iii/4 c. thousand island dressing instead of the 1/2 c. each as the recipe called for. Very yummy and hearty dip. Served with crackers and everyone inhaled! Slap-up recipe for Reuben lovers!! Thanks Karen!
03/31/2000
This recipe is splendid and very different from the norm. I accept recieved many requests for the recipe and have been asked to bring the dip to work several times. We similar information technology best with crackers. I have also mixed all the ingredients together in a crock pot, so it would keep warm and information technology is only every bit good
11/08/2011
Stop! Don't rinse the sauerkraut! This was good, only rinsing the sauerkraut made for tasteless cabbage, losing the zing that makes a reuben a reuben. Squeeze, just don't rinse!
02/20/2008
This recipe is great. All the same, for it to work/taste well, DO Not skimp on the dressing as far as fat content is concerned. I've made it twice; once with calorie-free 1000 island, and once with regular thousand island. The consistency betwixt the two is unbelievable. The calorie-free dressing gave the dip a funky taste, and it was runny. Using the regular thous. island made it creamy and not runny. I also mixed all ingredients together instead of layering to save on time-information technology all comes out tasting the same! Last, I served w/halved cocktail ryes and Gardetto's rye crisps (now available in a bag by themselves!). Was a hit!
01/18/2011
I have made this twice. The start time, I made it exactly every bit written, and I give it just 3 stars. The second time, I took into business relationship some of the recommendations of others and combined all of the ingredients, rather than layer them. My revisions the second time: but 8oz sauerkraut and 1/ii pound (or iv packages) of Buddig Corned Beef. Using Buddig beef instead of deli beef eliminated much of the grease. 8oz of sauerkraut was enough for our tastes. Both times I made it, I used an 8x8 drinking glass dish. If I were to brand it over again (not certain), I would probably add together a couple green onions for a bit of color/taste.
03/23/2006
I bought this dip to a Bunko party and it was the biggest hit! Added extra one,000 Isle and didn't apply all of the cheese. I also baked it as directed then transfered it in to my electric(very larg) fondue pot to keep warm all nighttime.
11/24/2006
We thought this was fantastic. I made information technology in the wearisome cooker, setting on high for 30 minutes and the turning to depression for another hour and somewhen just on "keep warm" setting. Since I estimated my crock pot being smaller than 9x13, I used almost half of the sauerkraut, merely kept everything else the same. Information technology was fabulous and a large hit. I served with Rye bread that I just toasted and cut into pieces. Thanks ~ this is a keeper.
01/03/2007
Loved this! I did a couple things different though. I mixed the beef in with the dressing/mayo mix and I call back information technology turned out better than if I would take just layered it. Also, I used about 12 oz. of meat and information technology was just right. When I make information technology again, I won't use whatsoever less than that. Served it with rye crisps, rye Triscuits, and Ritz crackers. Personally, I enjoyed it well-nigh on the rye crisps and Ritz crackers. Definitely best when hot.
07/thirty/2007
I made this for a family reunion this weekend as a change of footstep from the usual dips and dishes. It was super easy (I heeded the communication of a previous review and combined all the ingredients in a crock pot and then cooked on low for a few hours before serving) and well-received. I have never eaten a reuben, but I enjoyed the dip. Served w/pumpernickle bread cubes and wheat crackers. I will def add this to my titbit recipe box.
01/02/2002
Delicious. A big hit. Strain the sauerkraut well in advance. Squeezing it dry out takes a while if it has not drained sufficiently. I used fatty-free dressing and it tasted wonderful.
12/28/2010
Heart attack in a pan, but oh and so skillful... used a pound of corned beefiness, pound of Swiss, and plenty mayo and 1000 Island to make it but right.
09/02/2006
This is the almost requested titbit I make. Just We eat it for supper likewise! Dear it!
12/27/2002
I'm not sure I followed the recipe exactly because it didn't specify whether to use canned corned beefiness or deli, so I opted for the cafeteria and finely chopped up the beef instead of shredding it. Can someone tell me if canned corned beef works as well? If you like Rueben sandwiches, bet y'all'll enjoy this dip besides.
06/ten/2010
It was very skillful. My swain liked it a lot. For my detail tastes I idea it needed to be creamier...but I suppose cream cheese could be substituted for mayo.
05/01/2006
This was great tasting dip, only as it cooled the cheese hardened. I wonder if information technology would work better if it were stirred up instead of layered. Volition endeavour that side by side time. All the same, it was succulent and in that location were no leftovers! served it with rye crackers.
11/14/2006
Delicious! Nosotros ever serve this at our football game parties.
01/27/2003
MMMMM.... I made this for a friend during the Super Bowl and it was nifty. Now that I've tried information technology, I'll bring it to a party. It tin can easily be layered ahead of time and then refrigerated until ready to broil. Merely remember to bake information technology a few minutes longer if it's common cold when you put it in the oven!
01/22/2006
This is outstanding! I bought the flat brisket corned beef and cooked it in the crockpot. I used a fork to shred it. Next fourth dimension, in add-on to shredding it, I will cut the shreddings in half or thirds. Thank you.
08/22/2011
I used a canned corned beef and as 1 review said, used cream cheese instead of mayo. I volition have to broil next time equally this time I was too impatient... microwave! Still, information technology'south yummy and a skillful pita filling!
12/29/2006
The season of this is simply wonderful. Adjacent time I make it, I'm using 1/2 the recipe and serving it. If more is needed, I'll make the other 1/two. It only needs a few minutes to heat through and it's nice to serve it up fresh. It's definately a 'keeper'.
01/01/2011
I served this at my New year's Eve party and it disappeared! Everyone loved it and I got several requests for the recipe. I did what another reviewer did and substituted mayo for cream cheese, though. I fabricated ii other dips with mayo that night and then I didn't want another dip with mayo. I halved the recipe and fabricated it in a ii qt crock pot and served it with cocktail rye staff of life.
01/01/2011
So easy and a great hit at parties! Even people who normally don't like saurkraut enjoyed it.
10/17/2011
tasty. i had a little trouble finding cooked corned beef so I remember I would used canned adjacent fourth dimension. I will also used a hollowed out pumpernickle bread for presentation side by side time.
01/28/2013
With all due respect to the original affiche and those who liked the recipe, I did not find the mayo and dressing base appealing. Non-dairy bases divide when baked, leaving pools of grease and congealed solids instead of a consistent, flossy dip. The dish was besides sweet--I doubtable mainly due to the Grand Island. I program to experiment with a cream cheese-based Reuben dip in the futurity.
12/17/2001
Yummy - a keeper for sure. I just had a hard fourth dimension finding shredded corned beefiness.
12/01/2010
Very easy and very tasty! I am making it once more soon for my boyfriend!
02/ten/2014
Based on other reviews, I did non rinse the saurkraut just drained and pressed out the liquid. I too added 1 bundle of foam cheese, low fat thousand island dressing, 1/2 cup sour cream and omitted the mayo. I used high quality corned beefiness from the deli and used a touch over a pound. No bug with grease for me. I also used one-half swiss cheese and half mozzarella. I mixed information technology all and poured into a crockpot until hot and bubbly. Served it with cocktail rye bread and Triscuit rye crackers. This was delicious! I took it to a super bowl party and everyone commented on how adept it was and was speedily gone! Will definitely brand over again.
01/27/2003
Perfect appetizer for those looking to get away from the normal dips. I brought cocktail rye bread and fabricated miniature rueben sandwiches and they were fabulous. Easy to brand simply similar the recipe says.
09/06/2010
Awesome and I don't generally like Reubens. The one matter I will say is that if there are left overs they don't taste the same the 2d time around. I fabricated information technology for just me and my hubby and saved the rest.
10/27/2011
I only used the inexpensive corned beefiness lunchmeat and cut information technology into small pieces. I besides didn't layer anything, just mixed it all together and then broiled it. Served it with Rye bread, it was corking
11/03/2005
I thought this dip was splendid! I omited the mayonaise, seeing as though I don't use mayonaise on a normal reuben sanwich. It turned out swell! I went to the baker, and got a whole loaf of unseeded rye breadstuff and cut it into large chunks. I too kept the dip warm by using an non-stick electric fondue pot. It worked out bang-up! It was so good and my entire family loved it!
01/17/2012
Not every bit skilful as I hoped. Could be better with twice the corned beef and half of the sauerkraut. Might try again with adjusted recipe.
09/29/2014
This dip needs to be kept hot, would be perfect equally a crock pot dip for parties. Other then getting difficult, it did accept expert flavor, and my hubby inquire me to make it again sometime.
11/27/2004
This dip was a huge success. Everyone loved information technology. I took the suggestion of combining all ingredients together instead of layering and it was perfect.
02/06/2006
At present a Super Bowl Sunday standard in our home!! This was EXCELLENT!! I did mix all ingredients instead of layer and did cook in oven as directed only kept information technology warm (stirring every now and so) in a electric fondue pot on warm. WAS SOOO GOOD! I served this with rye cocktail bread that I cut in one-half to brand dipping easier and also Rye Triscuits. Thank you So MUCH!!
11/13/2006
Totally excellent! I bought this to a Halloween Party, labeled it "Puke dip" and I had guys sitting effectually the dish, their elbows on the table begging for more! Tasty and piece of cake stuff!
12/29/2011
My extended family unit all loved this dip, and my hard-to-please husband LOVED IT, and even ate what leftovers there were. Even I liked it, and I had never had a Reuben before. Triscuits seemed to be the all-time to dip with. I'll be making this i again soon!
01/06/2012
Just pulled this out of my oven.... I must say this is an excellent recipe.... Give thanks y'all then much for sharing such a wonderful recipe!
01/05/2004
This was delicious!! Will definitely brand again. I volition chop the sauerkraut side by side time though, it's a trivial hard to put on the cracker/breadstuff. Also, will add more mayo and thousand island to brand it less dry out! Fantabulous flavor!
12/27/2002
This is a favorite! I commonly halve the recipe for smaller groups considering information technology'southward pretty rich. I use corned beef from the deli and assemble it ahead of time.
01/03/2012
I replaced the corned beef with pastrami. Information technology was delicious!!! This dip disappeared within minutes.
01/01/2012
Did not care for this at all. Will stay to just the normal Ruben sandwiches. This was but non the same and mind you lot not inexpensive to make. Nearly twenty down the drain (bought proficient corned beef). Propose anyone to attempt another dip.
09/19/2011
I made my own G Island dressing that I threw together at the last infinitesimal and I used one-half sour cream/one-half softened reduced fat cream cheese instead of mayo because there was already mayo in the Thousand Island dressing. Baking this dip was.....wrong. This was merely.....not skillful hot. I let information technology cool in the fridge and it was better common cold, but next time, I'll use this as a cold spread and skip the oven.
12/28/2011
I have made various versions of this dip by altering the mayo/Chiliad Island (and cream cheese) amounts. E'er a hit no thing what! The Fritos Scoops disappear outset, followed past Triscuits.
11/21/2010
Nosotros dear this dip! I mixed everything in a small-scale crock pot and stirred often until the cheese was melted. Information technology's delicious with mini rye breads!
01/23/2003
Wow. Fabricated this for dinner, for two, and information technology was SOOOOO good. Men will beloved this, and and then will anyone who loves reubens. I ran out of swiss cheese and used cheddar for part of it, and that worked cracking too. Soo good the night of, but but ok the adjacent day. We ate it with torn, toasted pieces of rye bread. We looked for rye crackers, but in the terminate we wanted something softer. Thanks!
02/25/2005
sounded skillful simply it was terrible. made this for ane of the dips at our Super Basin party and NO ONE liked it. I'thousand deleting this 1 from my recipe box!
11/02/2007
I was told this was awesome past several people and the recipe was requested past several people. I did brand some changes 1c dressing 6oz cheese 4oz cream cheese 4 bags of the el cheapo bags of corned beef from the lunchmeat area of the store combined it all in the nutrient processor and threw it in the crock pot. Gone in i hour.
12/31/2006
Great titbit...requested past many guests. The only modify I would make is to add together more corned beefiness and less cheese.
02/06/2012
I made this for the Super Basin party and information technology was AWESOME. I only changed one thing in the reciepe which was extra 1000 island dressing. It has to be a crock pot dip too considering every bit others said once it cools down the cheese gets lumpy. I have some great ideas with this dip in the future!
12/16/2002
WOW- i made this for a party and Anybody loved it- I got a ton of compliments. I was kinda worried about serving it since I had never made it or tried it simply its a WINNER! Splendid!
x/21/2002
Made with no-fatty dressing and served with Rye Wheat-thins. Everyone raved!
04/09/2002
Bang-up recipe that has go a family favorite. I can't tell y'all how many people have asked me for the recipe. I like to add a piffling extra sauerkraut.
11/07/2003
A hitting! For the corned beefiness, I used ane 12 oz tin of corned beefiness. I also doubled the sauce, I detest dry out dishes. And it only took almost x-15 min to bake in my oven. Anybody loved it!!
03/07/2005
I accept made this dip several times and each time it was a striking. I use fat free mayo and thousand island dressing. I've also substituted reduced fat mozzerella for half of the swiss cheese. I mix the ingredients instead of layering. So far no complaints.
01/02/2005
If you like reubens, you'll similar this dip! I used canned corned beefiness, instead of cafeteria-sliced, and it turned out fine. I might cut down a little fleck on the mayo and dressing next time, however. I think it would exist improve if it were a picayune thicker. Thanks, Karen!
11/19/2014
I love this recipe. I am a huge Reuben fan and this definately was a hit. I also used 8 oz foam cheese instead of mayo and it was fabled.
08/18/2006
Very Very Adept. If you lot similar traditional reuben flavors, y'all'll love this!
03/10/2003
This was and then easy to make and tasted delicious. I served it with regular and rye triscuits. My reuben loving friends tore it up!
10/16/2007
We didn't similar this at all. I fabricated this for a political party merely hardly anyone ate it. The advent of the finished product was pretty bad too.
07/20/2001
Excellent and easy. A nice alter from the usual political party appetizers! I warmed mine up in the microwave to save time and served with cocktail pumpernickel breadstuff. Can always cutting back on the dressing so every bit not and then rich. Thx
10/xxx/2008
I have served this dish many times and people love it. I also put a good quality of mustard in a small bowl adjacent to it for a little kick. It is a nice addition but still tastes great without it.
03/23/2010
Yum! Liked this better than recipe w/sour cream in it. Baked it in the crockpot insert then put that in crockpot to keep it warm. Everyone loved this. Served w/triscuit sparse crackers.
09/06/2010
Cracking dip! All the same, I prepare mine slightly unlike. Instead of layering, I mix all the ingredients together with a piffling bit of the cheese. So I place the balance of the cheese on top. This way y'all're sure to get a lilliputian chip of everything with each seize with teeth.
06/06/2000
This recipe was a hit at the function potluck! I did it in a crockpot and kept it on depression from the time I arrived at work until lunch time. Take care to stir often because the Swiss cheese has a trend to burn down. Can't go wrong with this if yous love Ruebens!
01/12/2011
This is fantastic. I did find I needed to use more than dressing on height - used 3/iv cup mayo and iii/4 cup thousand isle dressing. I besides used iii/4# corned beef. The amounts called for seemed a petty lean for a 9 x 13 pan.
02/06/2012
This is a total keeper and the crock pot is the mode to go. I used 1/ii lb. corned beef shredded past the deli department at the grocery store. I also used dark rye bread chunks, only I think a rye cracker of some sort would have been better. Adjacent time I brand this, I will definitely try crackers or Triskets instead of rye breadstuff. Very skilful recipe.
08/03/2004
Heavenly, if you are a reuben lover! Which we all were. Succulent! Wouldn't change a affair! Thanks for sharing!
x/03/2011
First-class, unique recipe. Served with torn pieces of pumpernickel breadstuff. Everyone loved it!
07/31/2000
A large hit at potluck! I also enjoyed taking leftovers to work: a couple of minutes in the microwave and I had a hot lunch!
ten/21/2014
made it in the slow cooker and added extra cheese. perfect football treat.
02/04/2012
Huge striking! I followed other reviewers and baked in the oven and then served in the mini crock pot with mini rye breadstuff. People went nuts over information technology!
02/19/2012
Very good, but instead of 1000 island I use sour cream. I don't care for the sugariness of one thousand isle. It makes it creamy succulent!
07/21/2008
Fantastic Dip! My hubby found information technology and said, "makes this!" I told him I don't know most that one. Boy am I glad I made it! The simply matter I changed, was I used 16oz velveeta. I figured it would reheat better. But perfect! At first I started eating it with chips, simply I found it to be MUCh amend with just rye bread!
03/02/2010
my family unit loved this. I used six oz. cream cheese, cubed, in identify of the mayonaise. Also, as suggested didn't layer, just mixed altogether. Wonderful served w/ mini-pumpernickel loaf and rye flavored Truscuit
08/21/2004
I made this recipe for a small party. Anybody loved it and it was the first appitizer to go. One of my guests who DOESN'T like Reubens even like this recipe. I will definitely brand information technology again! Make certain y'all keep it warm if you want to serve information technology as a dip. Mine stayed out long enough to exist more similar Reuben Squares - dandy none the less.
09/fourteen/2008
Great dip fifty-fifty my vii yr old son loved it. My father in law is a huge reuben fan then I fabricated this with him in heed. I did cut the recipe in one-half since I was making so many other dishes. It was half gone and he took the leftovers domicile to consume later. Really very good. I served it with Toasted rye breadstuff.
eleven/23/2010
I fabricated this for a party and ppl loved it.
05/16/2009
Served this at a cookout and every party goer asked for the recipe. Afterward cooking information technology, I scooped information technology all out and mixed it together in a serving dish with the bread and crackers. But had to microwave one time we got to party. You besides need a small serving knife for folks to spread it on their cracker etc. BIG Hit would make over again in a heartbeat.
11/05/2010
Not a large hit. A little goes a long way.
xi/24/2003
This was a tasty dip for anyone with a reuben peckish. The flavors blended well and it was really easy to throw together on a friday night! Next fourth dimension I might add some extra corned beef, equally I really would like that to be the star of the dish. Merely I'll definitely make this over again!
01/22/2011
I thought this was pretty proficient. Will make once again. Made exactly every bit stated.
04/24/2011
I used this just to brand regular rueben sandwiches just because its so much faster. I did apply less mayo and more thousand island dressing and more than than 8 oz of corn beefiness would be preferred. But toasted my breadstuff in the toaster and threw this mixture on the sandwiches. yum!! sure beat layering each individual sandwich and then toasting...
02/07/2011
This was a GIGANTIC hitting! Made it for our New year's Eve get together and everyone went on and on about information technology. Made me wait like a culinary genius. :-) Equally recommended past some other user, I did substitute one 8oz package of cream cheese (softened) for the mayo. Tremendous! Served it with torn up Hawaiian Bread and Rye Crackers.
06/12/2008
What a great recipe! I took this to a memorial twenty-four hours party and numerous people asked me for the recipe. I did modify information technology some. I used a larger jar of sauerkraut likewise every bit added more yard island dressing. Although another reviewer warned against using low fat dressing, I used fat free kraft chiliad island and it was fabulous! Very tangy and perfect. Nosotros served this with fresh marbled rye breadstuff. I definitely recommend this for any summertime BBQ or political party!
03/12/2003
This was just OK. Information technology turned out oily and hardened quick. It wasn't a big hit for the small gathering that I had but I will try again and maybe modify a piddling. I used the bagged corned beef found in the meat section.
12/28/2008
Made this for Christmas Eve - fabricated recipe in crock pot, turned out great and everyone enjoyed information technology.
02/04/2012
Hearty! Add together more meat than recipe calls for.
02/08/2005
Took this to a Super Bowl party and it was a HUGE striking!
05/nineteen/2008
I made this for a work function, everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. Since I was at work I had it in the dull cooker. A friend of mine made information technology in the oven and said it wasn't as good.
12/25/2008
Okay dip, especially since I was looking for something out of the ordinary. Will make again, but not right away--I need to fourth dimension to creepo up a peckish for it beginning.
12/28/2008
I didn't have very good luck with this recipe. I don't know if I layered the ingredients in the wrong order or what, merely information technology simply did not come out well at all. Somewhat of an expensive recipe to botch...Perhaps volition try once again subsequently because it sounds and so good!
02/05/2007
Very easy and tasty. Used less cheese and there was withal plenty. Could use one-half.
01/06/2009
The flavor of this dish is great. But I didn't care for the texture...it wasn't really similar a dip and was hard to scoop with crackers/fries due to the clumps of beef/sauercraut. Next time, I will double the sauce and then mix up instead of layering. I can meet how it would exist expert in the crockpot...just still recall it needs a bit more sauce.
